Event Monitoring
These exams are used to assess irregular electrical impulses of your heart over a two-week period. These irregular beats may not occur on a daily basis, therefore, the longer time period is necessary to assure the right diagnosis.

King of Hearts - This test uses a small box with electrodes attached to your chest to collect irregular heartbeats. Your heartbeat is constantly being recorded, and when an event occurs, you push a button to capture the irregular beats. The recording can then be sent by telephone to our office for evaluation. This device is physically connected to you for the entire two weeks. There is no special preparation for this test.

Heartcard - This test uses a smaller box (the size of a credit card) and is used in cases when a patient feels an irregular beat for a longer period of time. When the irregular beat is identified, the card is placed on your bare chest and activated by pushing a button. The beats are collected by the card and sent to our office via the telephone. This box requires no constant connection. This test is also for two weeks.

There is no special preparation for this test.
