At Los Angeles Cardiology Associates (LACA), we are guided by six core values:
Every physician and staff member who is invited to join our practice is expected to demonstrate these values in their interactions with patients, families, referring physicians, and co-workers.
The most fundamental core value for our group is clinical excellence
. We strive to be the best, and we firmly believe that to be the best at something, you have to do a lot of it. To ensure this high level of experience in our practice, we have full-time, dedicated physicians in each of three major subspecialty areas of cardiology.
The first subspecialty is interventional cardiology
, including coronary and peripheral vascular interventions. Interventional cardiologists care for people with blockages in their blood vessels. We refer to them as our cardiovascular plumbers. They provide services like diagnostic angiography, angioplasty, and stent placement. They perform these procedures within the heart, and in areas beyond the heart such as the arms, legs and carotid arteries in the neck. All of our interventional doctors exceed national guideline recommendations set by the American College of Cardiology for volume of procedures performed every year, and they have established an outstanding regional reputation for the treatment of complex cardiac problems.
The second subspecialty within the group is electrophysiology
. Electrophysiologists provide treatment for patients with heart rhythm disturbances and other electrical problems in the heart. Radiofrequency ablation and defibrillator implantation are two of the therapies provided by our electrophysiologists. The LACA electrophysiology program is the busiest on the West Coast, drawing patients from across the country.
The third subspecialty is non-invasive cardiology
, which involves taking detailed, sophisticated pictures of the heart and blood vessels to guide the identification and treatment of various cardiovascular problems. This includes ultrasound and nuclear imaging, as well as other testing modalities. Our two full-time noninvasive cardiologists are specially trained in cardiac diagnostic imaging, and they currently interpret more than 12,000 diagnostic cardiovascular studies per year.
The physicians of LACA also believe that a key to excellence is leading the way in technology and education. As a result, our group has maintained a research program that permits us to provide our patients with early access to new and groundbreaking forms of treatment. By the time many advanced technologies are released for widespread use, the physicians of LACA are already experienced in their use. This has been true of numerous lifesaving devices ranging from drug-coated stents to the latest generation of implantable cardiac defibrillators (ICDs). We are also leaders in providing advanced training for physicians both locally and nationally.
